On the Day
The Hertford Centre is the changing area for attendees taking part in Museum activities. It is also the meeting point for the historic walking tour and a base if the weather is poor.
Separate male and female toilets are available. You may leave belongings at the Hertford Centre; the area will be kept secure, but items are left at your own risk. Privacy screens can be arranged in the foyer if you need more space to change.
On-site parking is available at Christ's Hospital. Staff will direct guests from the car park, as another event is taking place on site. You do not need to go via Reception: follow the route past the Fives Courts. A map will be shared when available.
Direct trains from London Victoria (also calling at Clapham Junction and East Croydon) depart every half hour, with a journey time of approximately 65 minutes. A minibus runs between Christ's Hospital station and the school; see the shuttle times below.
From the station: collections at 13:39, 14:10, 14:39, 15:10 and 15:39. Guests will be dropped at the Hertford Centre for the historic walking tour or at the Museum for independent browsing.
Back to the station: departures from outside the Court Room at 20:37, 21:07, 21:37 and 22:07.

John was born in Brisbane and read English at the University of Southern Queensland, where he met his wife Kim. Having started his teaching career in the Queensland state sector, he taught at Toowoomba Grammar School, Sedbergh School and then Marlborough College, before spending six years as Deputy Head of St. Peter’s College in Adelaide.
In 1998, he and Kim returned to the UK where he took up the headship of Ardingly College. In 2007, he took over as Head Master of Christ’s Hospital, before retiring to the leafy haunts of Storrington in 2017.
John was Master of the Salters’ Livery Company in 2022-23 and is currently a governor of Churcher’s College in Petersfield and a donation governor at CH. His interests include gardening, reading, painting, travel, classic cars and the fortunes of the Australian Rugby team.
